National Youth Development Council

The National Youth Development Council (NYDC) was established under an Act of parliament Cap 144 of the Laws of Zambia of 1986.  The main function of the Council is to advise the Government on youth development matters, register and coordinate youth organizations, mobilize additional resources for youth development programmes and administer a micro financing scheme for the youth of Zambia as well as develop leadership among youth organizations and their members. The Council has 1,120 affiliated youth organisations.

The Council is managed through a Board appointed by the Honourable Minister in charge of Youth Development. The Board has a Secretariat in place headed by the Council Secretary.
