The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development officiated a ceremony to empower Youth Beneficiaries under the Multi-Sectoral Youth Empowerment Programme in Lusaka Province.
In attendance was Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development Honourable Emmanuel Mulenga, MP, Lusaka Province Minister Honourable Bowman Lusambo, MP, Acting Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Youth Sport and Child Development Dr. John Phiri, Director Sport Mr. John Zulu, Acting Director Youth Mr. Cade Chikobo, Director Child Development Mrs. Bridget Mooya, Director Finance Mr. Bergin Kanungo, Director of Planning and Information Mr. Nelson Nyangu, National Youth Development Council Secretary Mr. David Musonda and other Senior Government officials.
The Multi-Sectoral Youth Empowerment programme was officially launched on the 15th of August 2020 in Ndola, Copperbelt Province to cater for the well-being of the youth in the country by His Excellency, Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia.
Government, through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development has recruited 596 interns from Lusaka Province and during the launch 58 Youth Cooperatives, totaling a sum of K18,700,620 were awarded with various youth empowerment initiatives, out of the total 117 beneficiaries.
Honourable Emmanuel Mulenga congratulated all the youth that had successfully submitted their proposals and also those that had been employed as interns at various public and private institutions.
He further urged the Youth not to spend too much time on social media but rather on innovations which can build the country. He has since called on the youth to take advantage of the K470 Million Multi-Sectoral Youth Empowerment programme which had been rolled out through the Ministry.
Speaking at the same event, Lusaka Province Minister Honourable Bowman Lusambo, MP, emphasized the need for the youth to put the money to good use and to pay back the money in order for other youths to benefit.
